Today (maintenance monday) I was doing the usual small water change, topping off ATO reservoir, perimeter tests, and filling the All for Reef reservoir.

Once a month I check my dosing pumps calibration. I refill the AFR (also once a month) I do a manual dose of 5 mils into a small measurement cup.

I'm verifying a few things here:
-Is it dosing after I just fiddled with refilling the reservoir.
-Is it dosing 5 mils accurately
-Is the line clogged

Today when I did my test it sprayed all over the place like something was restricting the dosing line outlet. Upon inspection the AFR had "dried and clogged" the tip of my dosing line.

I simply cut a 1/4" of the line back retested and finished up.

It got me thinking, I've learned to do this routine check because of clogged dosing lines.

Got any tips, tricks, or quick checks that prevent issues??

Lots of people have commented that aiming their ATO outlet at the end of their AFR outlet will wash away any build up at the tip of the AFR outlet.

I've seen people T off lines for similar reasons to keep outlets clean.
