Many fish do better at lower temperatures. As more deepwater species are collected we will see temperatures slowly drop. I personally keep my reef tank at 73-75F while my FO holding tank is kept at 69F.
+1 My reef 73 degrees and my FO 68 degrees.

Target 77f......
See below for 24 hour fluctuations.

Heater kicks on at 76.5 and off at 78.5. I keep my house in the low 70s in the summer, and high 60s in the winter, and run LEDs so my tank water never goes past the high point of the heater...

Mine is at about 78

I have a ReefKeeper controlling two heaters that keep the tank at 78.0 to 78.3 degrees.

HOW MUCH DOES A FISH’S FEEDING REQUIREMENTS AFFECT YOUR STOCKING DECISIONS?

  • A lot! - I avoid fish that require frequent or specialized feeding

  • It depends on whether my nutrient export can handle it
