What the heck is this??

Can anyone tell me what this is and is it something I should be worried about? I could remove the rock and maybe dig it out if it is harmful. My tank is about 5 years old. I have been following the discussion within this group and I have learned so much. I’m hoping someone can help me with this “worm”. Don’t mind the cyno. It is yet another flare up. I’m hoping to devote more time to my tank maintenance when I get fully retired. Ugh.

Welcome! Glad you joined. Going to defer to others on worm ID. Can tell it is a filter feeder, but its not a feather duster type worm based on its flexibility (unless its one I just don't know)... In general, worms MAY burrow into corals for protection, so IN GENERAL worms are (these days) not as highly regarded as once they were. GORGEOUS rock flower anemone by the way!

Have you considered starting your build thread? I found its a great place to document my tank's evolution for myself. I started tank first then joined, so I'm still finding myself going back collecting pictures & updating historically as well as current state. Once you create your first post in your thread and link it to your account, they will give you build badge (look left, under my ID)

LOL - after watching the video - YES it really does!!!

If it isn't suitable for a reef tank, maybe setup a FOWLR tank and put it with peaceful fish as I think it seems cool! I remember when everyone LOVED feather dusters but now some will say they are reef tank 'pest'...

I'm not sure what your creature there is, but that was one of the coolest filter feedings I've ever seen. Very neat find! Does it move around in the tank at all, or is it sessile?

It doesn’t have any legs and appears to be smooth-skinned. The front opens and closes. When closed it looks like an earthworm. I’ve been trying to do a Google search but I really am just stabbing in the dark.

I'd guess it's harmless, but without knowing exactly what it is I can't say for certain.

@vetteguy53081 likely knows - he is my hero... if you give your post some time more may weigh in on your worm ID. Your guess seems good, but I have to defer to others as no personal experience with it/them.
