Hello there’s a big windstorm in my area 85km winds and they are saying prepare for a power outage what do I do in this case. My tank is large 130 g and I have issues already when my pump stops it’s syphon the water back to my sump I have prepared a eleminator(battery) but that will only buy me so much time and won’t allow my heaters to run I have plugs for my over flow. I just don’t know what to do with my fish. I have a quarantine tank but no heater. Should I ditch the large tank put the fish in the small and take one of the heaters and warm it up as quick as I can? My small tank won’t have issues with water flow as water levels are constant.

No leave them in the DT. Get a cup and poor tank water from above it oxygenate the water. Best you can do. Also wrapping the tank in a blanket might help keep the heat it already has

I lost 2/3 of my well established and thriving fish when we had a week long power outage due to fires. I had a generator but wasn’t allowed to return to my house to refill with fuel due to mandatory evacuation orders. The 1/3 I was able to save by donating them to the local fish store (dedicated marine store) which was not affected by the outage. Hind site, I should have done that for all of them upfront. If worst comes to worst that may be an option just to save your livestock.
