Being locals we've been to reefa several times, but this is our 1st year staying 2 nights & going Sat & Sunday. (We're staying at the hotel.) Any advice on what to do with the corals you buy the 1st day to keep them alive & well through the weekend?

I was fortunate enough to attend the RAP NY/NJ event last year, and I really hope to go again this year. Like last year, my wife and I will be staying in a hotel. There was so much to do in the area (for the NY/NJ event), that my wife and I would like to plan to stay like 3 or 4 days so we can hit all the reefing stuff at the event, but also some of the cool attractions in the area.

It was a great opportunity to meet in person some of my R2R friends like @revhtree , @AlyciaMarie , @Gumbies R Us and @Reefer Matt. I unfortunately missed @ChrisfromBrick and @AydenLincoln , last year, but maybe this year 🙂

OK, all that reminiscing out of the way, and to help with your question, I'd suggest a couple things:
  • Bring a cooler to keep your frags in as you're traveling, and even inside the show.
  • I would bring a small container (possibly your cooler), a small heater, an air pump and air stone, and salt mix. I'd grab some distilled water from any local grocery store or pharmacy once you got there, and I'd create a little mini-tank in your room.

I hope this helps, and please report back on your time at the RAP Orlando event this year 🙂

Like mentioned above, bring a cooler and set it up like mini tank. Some vendors will hold the coral and even ship them for a price at a later date as well. Reefapalooza is such a great time
