About two years ago I was given a 3-4” Sohal. He has grown to a stunning 7-8”. He is currently house in a 125 gallon with a Fox face and Niger trigger. The plan since day one has been to move the Sohal and likely his roommates to a 550 gallon display I have been ever-so-slowly working on. Well I am about 3-4 months away from that system being up. My is how to integrate the Sohal into that system with other tangs I am wanting. You there tang plans are to include a blue hippo, sail fin, naso, dusemari and maybe a fowleri. It there enough volume and a new environment that they should be fine? Should I keep the other tangs in the main display to grow out about to later introduce the Sohal asbthenlast tang? Or is her just too aggressive given his age, size ?

A 7-8” sohal is an inch or two away from insanity. Both mine turned into killing machines (second worse than the first) once they hit 9”.

Heard somethings similar for clown tangs. Stinks as IMO signals and clowns are gorgeous fish. With your two sohals was the aggression just at other tangs or all fish? I have thought my Sohal was responsible for a couple deaths in my tank. Anyway to make a sohal work except maybe with full size Triggers, groupers, etc???

My first sohal basically cleared my tank of all other tangs; the second one cleared the tank of almost all fish. Meanest fish I ever had. Both were 20 years ago - haven’t kept one since. I’d only really be tempted if I had a truly huge tank. Something like 2,000 gallons.

Ok will starting looking a new home for him? Anyone want a Sohal in the Midwest? FREE

Do you know is a clown tang is the same? Also plan on fowleri and dusemari. Any words or wisdom or massacre stories there?

I've only ever kept the clown once, and it died before getting big - anecdotally, seems potentially as bad as the Sohal.

I have no idea why I feel guilty about liking this post. I don't like the crazy killing part but have to give it a like because, well, it is true!!!!
