Since we seem to have a lot of activity in the lounge lately, I've always wondered what things would keep others from dating someone. Let me qualify this with the fact I've been happily married for 24 years (except when she says NO at the LFS) and I don't expect to ever have to use this list.

Mine would be:

1. Can't be married
2. Can't be in the middle of a divorce
3. No tats
4. Must be some type of christian religion
5. Not sure on this one, might could over look it, but have roughly the same political views.

Before I got married, I had the stipulation of no kids.

Mine would be the following:

Can't be married
Can't be overly religious
Can't be a smoker
Can't be a club rat
Can't be an over-the-top health freak

That's about it for me.... it is just dating after all. After the first date, I'll have a good feel for their intellectual level, morals, drive etc. Then I can determine if I want to continue with additional dates.

Everyone has their preferences, however I'm sure everyone also has a requirement that would be considered shallow. I know I definitely do. Could be a loaded question haha hopefully only good sports will be the only ones to chime in!

Very true. I'm definately not looking to make anyone mad. I'm sure there are plenty of people that would whole heartedly disagree with all my requirements. Heck, I honestly doubt I could find a women to date me as set in my ways as I am now. My wife tells me all the time that she is too lazy to divorce me and she knows I'm too cheap to divorce her.

Well you have to be attracted to the person, that goes without saying... whether you like them underweight, overweight, short, tall, black, white, male, female and so on. I don't see anything wrong with having that type of stipulation. I will say that once you are truly in love though, none of that stuff matters. And if it does still matter, then you probably are not in love as much as you think.

Been married for 7 years but my list would have to be

1. Non-smoker
2. Tattoos are ok in small portions, but not someone who is covered head to toe (my wife has a shamrock tattoo on her foot that her and her sisters all got matching for their irish heritage.
3. No Drugs or Alcohol abuse
4. Previous marriages and children are ok, as long as she doesn't have any kind of history cheating...not prepared to deal with that.

But hopefully i'll never have to deal with any of that :)

Haha that's funny

My first trial for a date would be knowing how they eat. Sounds weird but I absolutely can not stand hearing someone smack while eating, or chewing with their mouth open. Both of my parents and my brother do this and it literally turns me into a boiling anxious mess. Tried for years to get over it, not happening. Some other things on the list would be: must be a christian, must enjoy and know how to be around animals, must share my mentally of God first, then spouse, then world-dominating offspring :p. Lastly would be no addiction to sports, especially football. And he's not allowed to gain weight after we get married, or when I get pregnant. For some reason every guy I know has done that when he got married. Okay so I guess I do have a laundry list of things but I won't go over them all :D.

So would they have to weigh-in on a daily, weekly or monthly basis? :D I blame my wife's good cajun cooking on my weight gain.

Pretty much all this, plus can't be overly clingy/low self-esteem or high maintenance. Obviously I also need to be attracted to them physically.

There's actually a name for that... misophonia. I have it as well. Bad news for me when I travel to Asia....

Can not smoke or be a heavy drinker. Has to have the ability of common sense, critical thinking, and able to hold a intellectual conversation. I don't want to just talk about the latest Hollywood gossip or your Facebook wall or whatever it's called all the dang time.

there is only one thing I detest on this planet

antidepressants and api ammonia kits. when I say loathe, im talking tom cruise level loathing with no other worldview similarities.

Been married 5 years and together 15, we were high school sweethearts. I would have a hard time dating again if i had to, but my list would be as follows.

1 Cant be super religious, religion is great but some people cant see past their religion.

2 Would have to put up with my obsession of my hobbies.

3 Politically cant be extream left or right, I fall in the middle. Must believe in the constitution and the rights it grants us, but also must allow people to choose the lifestyle they choose. If someones way of life doent effect others they should be able to do as they choose.

4 Most of all must be fun to be around.

My wife tells everyone I'm her permanent designated driver since I don't drink and she does.
Please don't get me wrong, occasional drinking is perfectly acceptable, I do it as well. I'm talking like need to be drink 24/7 alcohol poisoning drinking lol

Everything above plus work!!! She has to have a job, and I don’t mean working at McDonald’s no offense to anyone that works there. Someone with a hobby, if I have a hobby you find yours if you don’t like mine.

Ha this is great! Here is my list

Physically fit - is a must!
Out to family and friends
No kids
Must love animals
Must be good looking
Must be taller
Must be a top - LOL
Must be educated
Must be stable emotionally and psychologically
Must be low key - calm -Because I’m not
Must be independent

What would keep you from dating someone?

My wife.

If I weren't married? That'd be hard to imagine, I'm the most happily married man you're likely to ever find.

I suppose... Have to like beards, and want to live way out in the woods. Being a decent shot with a rifle wouldn't hurt. Anyone that can't stand to have an unspent dollar in their pocket would be a problem. Intelligent enough that conversation isn't painful.

Excepting the fact that my wife doesn't really like my beard... I've got all of that, and much, much more, thanks.
