After having a 65 gallon tank I've decided to downsize to a Red Sea Reefer 170, as crazy as it sounds.

The tank is currently on order and won't be in till the first part of September due to a family wedding. So I have plenty of time to make sure I do everything right, and have no regrets 6 months down the road.

I plan to do a mix of Acros, Chalices and Z/P.

Here is my rough draft of what I'm going to be using for this build, and as always I'd love to here advice from some fellow reefers.

Tank - Red Sea Reefer 170 (34 gallon display)
Skimmer - Nyos Skimmer 120
Pumps - 1 or 2 MP 10s
Lighting - Radion or ATI 24" 6 Bulb Fixture
Sand - 1/2 inch bed
Rock - Reel Reef Rock
Controller - Apex

That is all for now! Let me know what you all think or if you have any questions. I'll be adding on to this page as I get ideas for what I want.

Sounds like this will be fun!

If it were me I would go with the ati fixture. T5s are tried and true and will grow anything. But the features of the radion are really nice. Ive had both ;-)

It is fun, except aquascaping. I always feel like the worlds going to end haha

And yeah I've ran radions over my tank for years now, love the colors and features but the shadowing kills me. Only thing with ATI I do not like is there's no sleek arm for it to go on the tank. I hate hanging things from the ceiling.

Here's the nyos skimmer, just taking it out of the box to make sure everything is there.

Red Sea had a great idea of putting the foam under the glass so it looks black. I'm not sure if I want to do sand anymore, luckily I have the rest of the weekend to think about

Separated the corals I plan on bringing over from the rest of the corals.

I'm going to do a few Bayer dips on them to get rid of any bristles.

Going to start filling up the tank today. Decided to use neomarine salt by brightwell.
