I would assume something is eating at it, possibly the flame angel as they can get nippy with corals. Another idea is critters. idk if flatworms can cause this but that is a possibility. As posted above wait a couple of hours after the lights go off then take a flashlight and stare at the coral to see anything.

The leather is retracted, but they do that often. Looks good other than retracted polyps. Still upright and extended. Although, the duncan may be too close for comfort. May want to move him.
