Hi all , do star fish poo ?
Mine has been eating algae off the back glass for a few days and today I saw what's in the picture coming out of it
Anyone ?

So from the picture it says they have a rectum and anus so having them 2 means they must poo lol .....Right ? Lol

That's a blue linkia starfish they're very very very difficult to keep. Before they die, they typically "regurgitate" they're stomachs in a string out the center.

Unlike brittle and serpent stars that will eat just about any food we give them, blue linkia stars have a very specific diet of some kind of slime that occurs on live rock. Unless the tank is extremely large, public aquaria large, most blue linkia will simply start to dissolve as they starve. As 4FordFamily mentioned, the string you see is probably the first step in the end stage process. Sorry. :(

That's not good than , it's a shame as iv had it for over 6 months now always seemed happy
I'll just have to keep an eye on it and I'll update this thread as soon as anything happens , I take it that I don't want a dead star fish nukeing my tank
Seems fine today but I'll keep a close watch
