Title basically says it all. I'd like to get some more iconic peices in my tank. I like the idea of knowing some backstory to my coral. When someone comes over I can pull out some cool knowledge or a story that no one's likely to know if they are a reefer.
So what's the most OG coral you can think of? Not just like toadstool, acropora, GSP, etc but actually iconic named ones. Like Garf bonsai or meteor shower cyphastrea, green slimer etc. What corals have been around forever, are iconic, and bonus points are still available(and are actually the same coral, not just a look alike that goes by the same name)

The ORA Stuber Stag might be the oldest Acropora lineage that is still around. From back in the day when Acros couldn't be kept alive in captivity. The coloration may not compare to today's Acros, but it's kind of cool that it's still in circulation after all these decades.

GARF bonsai. I remember wanting one REALLY bad back 2000.

Still don't have one. Womp womp.
I want one too. Eventually I might setup a tank that's strictly iconic OG corals. Would be kinda cool i think

An iconic, OG coral that doesn't break the bank either! Also, there's something to be said about the plain, clean look of these corals

Tubbs Stellata, Jake Adam's Acropora Floridia, Oregon tort and garf bonsai as mentioned, just learned the OG Purple Monster acro is old school.

For zoas, Stratospheres are pretty OG. OG lineage on some zoas are pretty interesting. I don't know the oldest most coveted strain is, but there are definitely old-school ones that are hard to find.

Any acros from BKChem are hard to find, and OG BigR acros too.

Awesome list! A basic search about purple monster and there's so much history available on it. Love it

Todd's totch has a cool story behind it. A doctor who fragged his Torch for someone who loved the look of it. Im sure theres more too it.

The og weeping willow. Gl, thats a long line.
I cant think of any other cool story pieces.

Once the new tank settles in I am getting one!

I have never ordered frags over the Internet and have always made a 3 hour trip across the mountains for good acros, but the stores I go to never have it. So I am finally going to bite the bullet and order one.
