Whats up with corals?

My duncans have been like this for the past 3 days, you guys think the xenia is overpowering them?

Calcium about 420, alk about 7, i havent tested mag in forever... ph about 8.2, sg 1.025

No about mid flow, when i first got them they were in low flow and low light & stayed the same size, I moved them mid tank to stronger flow and they started growing great.. havent moved them in about a year

I have duncans also and about once every 6 months to a year they will close up for about 3 or 4 days. I think it's normal. My frogspawn will do the same when it is splitting or adding new growth.

Ironically too, my duncan was closed for 3 days last week. But today it was opened bigger and brighter than before. So.. i dunno lol

Im hoping thats a good sign then[emoji3] . I've never had them close up before, my torch coral has, but not the Duncans.

I dont test phosphate ( i know i should), & my nitrate i can never get down to zero, usually arournd 10-15 ppm

10-15 is a little too high for my comfort but as long as you don't have SPS(which I do) you shouldn't worry too much. If your duncan doesn't look better in a couple days, then I would be worried.

Not that ive noticed, the only new things ive added are some snails, had the same fish for months now

I only have softies & lps.. hopefully my saturday water change will perk them up

Update.. this morning theyre starting to look better, not at max extension but not all closed up like before. I guess it might have been temp. Swings, its been getting hot in NY

Nitrates Just a little high..are you running a skimmer..not an emergency but would be better if you can bring them down a little (5 ppm).IMO

I do run a hydor slimskim, which catches alot of gunk.. the lowest Ive ever gotten it down was 10 ppm.. but I also think i should change my test kit too, im using the standard API kit

Yes I would try new test kit. Glad to see your Duncan is coming back I have lost my Duncan and a hammer after closing up
