Not trying to argue with you, was just saying what the product recommends.

I guess the site doesn't say that. But I'm not sure how far too believe that. Unless the skimmer slims wet and somehow takes a butch of organics out the bacteria isn't going to be collected in the cup.

Well, it says 48 hours....what's not having your skimmer and UV on for 48 hours while breaking in....better safe than sorry :);)

First off, order bio-spira from Dr. foster and smith. They actually send you a cold bottle with insulation to retain freshness. Second, the liquid will create excessive bubbles with the skimmer and can cause overflowing. But, lets also go back to the point of the skimmer, which is to remove organics from the water column. Which, it's a new tank and therefore doesn't have much for organics. Also the instruction to wait 48 hours before skimming is in reference to an already established tank. Basic rules to cycling, we should wait 30 days. You want things to "fester" to build a strong bacterial environment. At least that is how I approach it.

Or I guess, your bottle, @Brian Kim says new or established tank. That is different from what I have read. My mistake.
