Just curious how many folks remove and clean there filter roller when its time to change rolls. If the drain hook up is a pain I would see not doing this regularly. I used the soft silicone tubing that is used on return pumps for my roller hook up and it makes it a breeze to remove the roller assembly. Out of the sump cleaning is easy and keeping the float switch clean is a must.

I have a reefmat 500. The only parts that get cleaned are the pieces required to be removed to replace the roll. I'm one of those that never clean my sumps either. The main reason I clean the parts removed is because I enjoy running hot water over the aiptasia as I scrub them off.

My X-Filter roller mat is going on 4 years old and has never been removed or cleaned.
