My watchman goby and pistol shrimp finally paired up about 5 weeks ago and then after about a week of watching them they disappeared. I assumed they were excavating and enjoying their new partnership but I haven’t seen the goby since. I’m pretty sure the pistol shrimp is fine because I still see signs of his construction but no goby sightings. When to asume he’s gone and safe to buy a new one?

You could try to target feed in front of his hole to encourage him to come out more
