When to start up skimmer on a new setup?

My tank has been running for 6 days. Gave the new skimmer a vinegar bath. Added it to the sump last night, not running though. Is there any benefit to starting it up now or should I wait till cycles done and I start stalking?

I'd start it up, but its not necessary to make it skim at this time, let it run up the froth in the main chamber to break it in. Then after the cycle, kit it up where it needs to be.
