Where are the PC pros at? Need help with build.

Looking at getting I7 7700k CPU
Asus Maximus Code Motherboard
Samsung M.2 SSD 500gb
16gb ram either Kingston, G.Skill, or Corsair
Corsair hydro series H115i Liquid Cooler

What your thoughts? And any suggestions on motherboards?

That processor should handle a lot. With 16 gig ram you should be fine. What about a video card?

Liquid cooling isn't really necessary unless you plan to over clock. All those brands are well known so shouldn't be an issue. It also really depends on what you plan to use it for. Now a days most newer components will run anything at max. Just really depends how much you want to spend and what you are using it for. Just remember to make sure motherboard has right cpu slot and ram is compatible with it but you should be good.

Sounds like a good start. Asus maximus boards are great. Always loved using their ROG boards. As for the ram that changes so often I would check newegg and see which one has the best specs and reviews in your budget. Cpu another fine choice being unlocked will keep that system up to date for a long time. As for the cooler it depends if you are planning on over clocking the cpu or gpu. Some of the gpu come with water heat sinks already on them. Even a cheap cooler master hyper212 (if I remember the model right) works excellent even after playing with the bios and clocking. If this is going to be a gaming RIG you will want to get a high end gpu. Don't buy low end you will usually feel outdated within the first year. Usually $300-500 gets you in a good spot.

Like others have said IT all depends on what you are going to do with it. Based on the components you have selected, you have a good budget so you might as well put a nice GPU in it. I am assuming you are using it for game play or some kind of video processing so the GPU is actually one of your more critical components. If you are not using it for this and maybe you are using it for normal things like surfing the internet or watching youtube, you can save yourself a little money by going with an I5 and loosing the water cooler. Have Fun!

Edit: Also add a regular Hard drive or standard SSD to back a few things up on. Just incase.

Build looks good, just pick a good GPU and you should be fine. Agree with other posters, if you're not going to overclock then you don't really need water. Most these days aren't even going to utilize the processor to the fullest extent anyway, but since you picked the "k" model, you have the ability to overclock in the future.

I was thinking gtx1070 or 1060. Will eventually get into gaming but I figured I might as well get the best CPU I can with the best board that fits my needs. The Samsung m.2 should help and all the other standards HDD's will be ran with optane as well as a couple of standard sata ssds. 16gb is minimum and definitely a good start.

You might want to look at the new AMD Ryzen processors also instead of going for only Intel chips. I have a friend in the IT business that benchmarks processors. He tried to get a Ryzen to max out on liquid cooling. Chip was rated for 3.5 gigs with liquid cooling he was getting 5 out of it with no issues at all or temp control problems. The 7700 has 6 cores the Ryzen has 8 for the same price point. Yes you have to buy a separate CPU cooler however they can handle the faster DDRAM.

The Intel chip design has not been redone in 10 years anymore it is considered ancient. Ryzen is brand new with 14nm tech meaning more transistors on it with faster data flow.
