I have a Purple Firefish in QT (recent purchase). For several weeks he used one of the bottom corners of the tank to sleep (again, QT tank, not much in there).

I went to feed him one morning and couldn't find him anywhere. Added the food, turned around for a second and he suddenly appeared, seemingly out of nowhere.

The next morning I went down and couldn't immediately find him again. After the day before, I knew he had to be somewhere.

I finally found him wedged vertically between the heater and the tank. This is now his sleeping spot at night. If it was this hard to find him in an almost empty QT tank, he is going to be a real expert at hiding in the display tank.

Anyways, just thought this was a crazy place to find him so thought I'd share.

Fire fish need a place to escape to that is there own. One acclimated to the tank and has a hide that nothing else goes in they will be out and about a lot more. Personal experience from more then one instance.

They are skittish little fish
