These days, I can walk into a LFS and buy bottles of copepods but I want amphipods. I’ve ordered some from IPSF.com and the quality was great. I’m wondering if any of you have ordered them and where you got them from. I want a little diversity and am interested in ordering from a different source.

Also, having plenty of cryptic areas (or even better, a refugium with lots of macro and rubble) for them to retreat to and reproduce will keep a good population going, I find them pretty commonly after lights out or underneath rock.

Royal reefs sells theirs as a mix of copepods and amphipods and they make no guarantee that you’ll get a particular number of amphipods.

I’ve ordered from them many times. They send thousands of amphipods in the order. Likely way more than 2000. They come in 2 separate bags with filter type sponges in them. Totally loaded with amphipods. They are by far the cheapest (for the amount you get) and best source. I’ve tried quite a few different sources because I used to breed seahorses.

How many times have you ordered and what condition were they in when you got them? Tell me about your experience please....

I’ve ordered once for my refugium. They came on a piece of filer pad. 99% were alive. All different sizes. The few I noticed that were dead could have been molted skin but I only noticed like two or three out of the hundred I ordered that were either dead or molted skin. The 100 count was 12+10 for shipping. I’d definitely order again.

I was going to order from FloridaPets but decided to try Sachs Systems Aquaculture instead because I thought they might breed them but I don't think that is the case now that I got my order.

I was happy with what they sent but next time I will try FloridaPets for the price and it seems to be their specialty.

I really want some from IPSF though... I just have to commit to a 100 dollar order...

I don’t think you have to do a $100 order. You can save money on multiple items if you order the package but I don’t think it’s necessary. I would email them. I will say that everything I’ve ever gotten from them is top notch.

From their site, the cheapest I can go is 60 and get shipping included, I am just speaking from a value perspective. Cost + Shipping, I don't really buy livestock online because the shipping is so expensive (40 dollars from Hawaii). I'll give email a try next time.
