Where to place wavemaker?

Looking for some advice on Nero 3 placement.

I have a waterbox 25 lagoon. Right now it’s mounted on the left side glass near the surface and pointed directly toward the overflow (see photo). I have it running on Random mode at only 5-10% because my bubble coral and hammer don’t seem to open up as much with stronger flow. Honestly, they look best when the Nero is completely off.

The problem is that even at this setting, fish waste still settles on the sand bed and doesn’t stay suspended long enough to make it to the filtration.

I’m trying to find a balance between:

* Keeping my LPS happy (bubble coral, hammer, mushrooms)
* Preventing dead spots and waste buildup
* Getting better overall flow through the rockwork

Would you move the Nero to a different location or point it in a different direction? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You could move it lower and more to one edge . Create more of a circular flow.

two things I would try:

1. move it lower and angle it upwards and slightly towards the glass so that it avoids directly blasting your hammers but still helps to lift detritus up towards the filtration

2. keep it where it is (or go a touch lower) and add a second one. you might have to play with the placement and settings to get it as good as you want but I would start with, from your picture's perspective, the "front" right corner, lower than the other nero, pointing towards the "back" right corner (so that both neros are pointing towards the same corner) and run them both on random to create turbulent flow around the rocks. Alternatively, the same wall as the other nero, but closer to the "front" left corner (on the near side of the flipper) and also lower

Flow should be chaotic.

You could point it at the return to have flow from both points collide. Having it point in the same direction will turn your flow into a whirlpool, like stirring a pot.
