I received this Yellow Tang (captive bred) today and put him into quarantine. I noticed something odd going on with his fins - some large whitish patches that are even raised a bit like a bubble in a few areas. The dorsal fine is a bit damaged as well.

He's eating and swimming around, albeit a bit shyly.

Is this parasitic or bacterial? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Bump, any ideas? Fish is still eating/doing well, so I haven't treated with anything.

Hard to tell from the pictures but from what you are describing, I would lean towards lymphocystis. Hopefully someone else can chime in.

Pictures are hard to see whats going on. Please post more and better description would be helpful. Its a good sign he is still eating though :)
