white stuff on zoas, doesnt look like pox. please help

I just went through a bout with this white fuzz on my zoas in Frag tank . I tried every dip imaginable including peroxide looking for something that could effectively kill it. I never found any dip that kills it , but they would help temporarily and it would go back to looking bad in short time . Brushing them seems to help a bit . It seems to have just started to disappear on its own after a couple months since I first spotted it . Honestly have to clue why it’s getting better now but thought I’d share

Did anyone ever figure out what this is or if its something to worry about. I have a few zoas with this white fuzz too. Almost looks like some type of feather duster or filter feeder

Resharing what I posted earlier in this thread

Had a discussion on this with a well-known Zoanthid pro about what this might be.

It is not known what it is. Perhaps a sponge or parasite. Experiences are that this forms on stressed zoanthids who haven’t been fully healthy and open. We’ve seen it go away in time so long as you leave the coral be so it becomes stronger or more preferably ensure it gets stronger flow and then leave it.

just wanted to drop this in for those still fighting it.

Keep your flow high if you have it. If your polyps are healthy, it will come and go like a virus. But we don’t know exactly what it is. It is some sort of life form that grows on zoa specifically though.

Would be interesting if someone can safely get it under a microscope, or any DNA testing at aquabiomics
