This is on a piece of live rock from a fully timing system I bought. Looks like cyphastrea i believe but I’m not really sure, surrounded by junk palys that took over most of the tank and I’m trying to slowly eradicate. It looks to be stinging the palys around it but can’t really tell. The sweepers have been coming out at night.

If the palys will overtake, how can I stop them?

palythoa will almost always win that fight, a way that works for me is smothering them with either glue or epoxy, you can also remove the whole rock and put them out to die/ chisel pieces off, whatever method you choose keep in mind they contain very deadly palytoxin that can become airborne in some cases so make sure to use necessary precautions like running carbon in the water to take out any palytoxin secreted into the water while you work

I removed most of what was there but was trying to salvage this piece. I also thought about placing torches around it in hopes that it stings it.

Could aiptasia-x potentially work? I’ve only had this system up a few days and already feel like I’m going to be battling this junk forever.

Taking out this rock isn’t a great idea. It’s huge and has a nice rbta attached to the other side of it.

Following.
I have the same problem.
Tried manual removal, then calcium hydroxide on remnants.
They came back.
Then added some sodium hydroxide to the CaOH, came back.
Always run gac carbon when disturbing these guys as it removes palytoxin from water.

Could I pull the rock, take outside, coat palys in kalk, wait a few minutes, dip in fresh salt water and then add back potentially?

Never done that method myself but worth a try, it could work

I have used F aiptasia many times and it works great im sure aiptasia-x would do the same....trick is to not drip it on the coral your trying to save

PS, I don't believe this is a Cyphastrea given tbe costate coenosteum (as well as sweepers you mentioned)
