That's the question my wife asked me the other day. Why are you always on that website? I gave her some dumb answer I'm sure, don't really remember. However the question lingered, why? So in thinking about it I tried to figure it out. Some reasons were pretty straight forward. The love of all things ocean related. The shared journey with others enjoying the hobby. The sharing of info and photo's, etc.. But the question kept nagging at me, why? After some days of stewing on the question I think I finally came up with the answer, Passion. When I was a kid I was engrossed by all things mechanical and electrical. I tore apart every toy I ever had, every bicycle. I built my first car engine in my bedroom of our house at 15 years old. Cars consumed me for the next 10 years. I had the same passion when I met my wife. She was all I thought about. After a while we had kids, then they consumed my life. A late in life career change shifted my focus back to cars. All along I had this desire to have a reef tank from the earliest days I had seen one back in 1983. So when life calmed down and old passions became just a part of who I am I think I started looking for a new one. Some take up golf( I'm terrible at it), some travel, some paint and so on. I reef. It is a never ending array of new experiences, new knowledge, new people. I can learn something at any given moment. I can see something for the first time every day. It never ceases to engross me. I love the odd, the weird, the non-traditional critters. Yes I love my Acro's too, but give me some oddball invert and I am a happy guy. I can come to this website at any time of day and get my fix of all things reef. So......why are you always staring at that darn website?
