If I ever get a large (and long) tank, I think I would love to have 3 Porkfish. They are colorful, fast, school great, and have that ‘deep ocean’ feel. But they don’t seem too popular. Anybody out there keeping any? (Any photos from your tank?) ;)

I see them in zoos and public aquariums.

I've thought about keeping them. The same goes for some of the snappers, like the blue striped (lined?)....But I don't have a big enough tank.

Love the blue lined snappers!

75 gallon tank, 1' fish.
Nope, maybe in the distant future.

LFS has a few 4" ones every now and then.
Definitely a fantasy fish.

I think the reason is because they’re not that colorful. They do get large also, but usually people see them at the LFS or online & say eh no. When I was in the business, we used to carry them, didn’t sell too many.

For reference, the French angel and Sailfin tang are about 8 inches.

Wikipedia says usually under 9.8", but can get up to 16". Looks like it could swallow a fish just about the same size as it is!

When I had my pet store, I carried these and loved them. Theyre beautiful, colorful, excellent schoolers, peaceful. . . BUT. . . . . They Get BIG. They are grunts which are fast and large. Hardy they are and an asset to a very large display system.
Here they are on a diving trip of mine in groups

Based on your experience, what is the minimum tank size (either in gallons, thoughts on length, or both aspects)?
