I’ve never been able to sustain a good amount of chaeto. It just melts away in the span of a month or two bringing my nutrients up. Currently I have phosphates at 0.15 and nitrates at 10 ppm. (Salifert and Hannah checker used for testing.) I dose chaeto grow, started the light at 5 hours and tried to ramp it up to 6 in case it needed more light but it dissolved more, and I’m using the reactor with led light strips on the outside method. I’m also at 50% flow capacity because I’m not sure you should have a lot of flow or a little bit of flow. What’s going on?

There is a few missing items.
1- Exactly what light are you using?
2-How much chaeto gro are you dosing?
3-Are you doing water changes?
5- Also, why are you trying for chaeto if you only have 10 nitrates?
6-A photo of your setup is always helpful.

5-6 hours of light is not very much. I run one light 24/7 on one tank and 12 hours on the other. Flow doesn’t need to be heavy.

I’m using these lights as I am able to set up a light schedule with it. I have a chaeto reactor to try to have it outcompete any nuisance algae that may come along and also have a stable and robust microfauna population
