So a month and a half ago i bought this walling hammer and initially for the first 3 weeks was open great, i haven’t changed anything apart from rotating its position slightly. Now its not quite opening as much could it be it has adjusted to the light and now doesn’t need to open as much? The torch i got at the same time is open great and has really coloured up. Could it be a pest? No water swings and you would have thought the torch would show it first. I looked for flatworms but cant see any and i have a six line for that kind of thing. What do you think?

This is what it looked like during the day. I also got two pictures at similar times in the evening and the more closed up is the recent one. Will get a pic during midday tomorrow as well

I should probably add that i cant exactly see any tissue retraction either but i am keeping a close eye on it

If you can like suggested above, post some pictures that are much closer so we can help any identifying issues

Here are some pictures, the top opens fine but the bottom half the polyps dont look as extended, here is the torch i bought for reference at the same time from the same place

that torch image 4931 is super healthy. though i do see some needed improvements.

first one is flow. definitely can use a pump on the left side.
second is coral placement. id move your torches up and softies down. with torches up higher, it get more par and flow.

lastly, looks like water parameters are off, i see lots of algae perhaps bubble algae (?).

test your water, move your corals accordingly, and add more flow.

The hammer looks fine to me. The shorter tentacles near the bottom are new growth, so they won't be as long as the rest of the tentacles.

@get-salty I agree on moving the euphyllia higher for higher PAR. However, softies absolutely love high lighting. One thing I noticed is the torch being close to the Kenya tree, if the torch touches the Kenya tree it will end badly for the leather.

Honestly I think the euphyllia look fine as mentioned above. One thing to remember when placing corals close to another is that softies use a defense known as allelopathy which can affect the entire tank. Softies love light as well so take the time to figure out coral placement, dont rush it and just keep a close eye. Bubble algae in my opinion has nothing to do with water quality but rather it probably came in on rock or a frag. There are ways to remove bubble algae safely and members of a CUC that can also help. Your tank is looking great🤙

Thanks i will keep an eye out, although i just had to rip one off a rock and move it out the way because it was stinging my frammer they are basically pests in my tank so it doesn’t matter too much if that one shrinks down a bit
