Will ECS linger in tank?

I have an elegance coral that looks like it’s about to bite the dust. Started shrinking more and more everyday. Question is if I get another one, is it likely that the disease/pathogen will still be in the tank and infect any new elegance I add?

More likely the exact conditions which are leading to the corals decline will still be present. I don’t think it’s a pathogen/disease but more likely a parameter/lighting/flow issue.
