Will feeding copepods old dead smelly phyto crash the culture??

I bought some live phyto from my lfs it's pretty smelly probably dieing now, wondering if it would still be ok to feed to copepod culture and tank or should it be thrown out?

I'm guessing the bottle doesn't have a expiration date .Majority of Copepods will eat dead phyto ( preserved) perfectly fine with minimum nutritional loss . Smell isn't always a indicator of death density plays a part in smell giving off a marsh / earthy tone . Now if it smells like a straight sewer or rotten egg and it's turning yellow then toss it .
