Will montipora encrust if it’s just hanging between two pieces of rock? No glue.

This might be a dumb question but I have a monti sitting between two pieces of rocks without any glue.

Will it encrust?

Yes, as long as it's not rocking around.

Yes, if the monti is touching a rock, and its stable (not moving in the flow), then it will encrust.

Considering that monti likes high flow position, it might be hard to set it down on a rock and it will not move.

If you have any urchins or turbo snails you can also expect them to do everything in their power to re arrange your non-glued corals. I speak from experience on that one. ):

Fortunately no snails, urchins or aquarium decorators in the thank other than me.

I regularly mount Monti frags on small pieces of AF rock(hate frag plugs!) & wedge between established rock work.they quickly encrust over so you should be fine

Sure. Now it's gently balancing between two rocks, but a few months from now it will have a death grip on both rocks as it slowly smothers every inch of surface.
