I would like to add a Melanurus wrasse to my tank. I have a 125 gallon with a carpenters falsher wrasse and cleaner wrasse. The females are cheaper but I like the look of the male melanurus. If i get a female will it for sure transition to male?

It's very likely that she will transition to male, but depending on her size it could take a year or two.

I'd buy a pretty one up front. I got mine small and have had it two years and its the ugliest wrasse I've ever owned. If I could catch it I'd get rid of it.
