Will my floor support my tank

Hello,

I'm considering a Waterbox Marine X 110. I would like to put it in the living room. It will be next to load bearing wall (exterior wall) but its going to be parallel to the joist. The house was built in the 70s. The joist is 7.25" x 1.5" Will my floor support it?

Display Tank: 47.2" × 19.7" × 21.7" 209 lbs
Sump: 31.5" × 16.1 × 15" 84 lbs
Stand: 47.2" × 19.7" × 35.4"

Rock + sand: 125 lbs
Tank + stand: 380 lbs
Equipment: 40 lbs
Total: 1,438 lbs-ish

Yes. But if you have any doubts hire an engineer to check it out. It cost me 190 to have a dude check the crawl space.

if the beams were running perpendicular and you were sitting across 2 i would say no issues.

the width of the room and span of the beam it will be sitting on matter also..

easy enough to go ad a support

I'd also say yes, but if you have a crawl space it isn't difficult to help support. I did this with my 230 just to feel safer about it.

As stated above; the best practice is hiring a structural engineer if you aren’t confident in your personal assessment!

If it was my house. I would add perpendicular joist with hangers. Probably good after that.

Dang, only $190. I've called like 3 structural engineers and no one has quoted me less than $600+. First dude I called quoted me $1300 to check it out (included an official report on what type of reinforcement I would need to give to a contractor).

You forgot to include the stand's weight. My stand weighs about the same as my tank, plus rocks and water. Another 1,000 lb easily. I think it should be fine to sit next to a load-bearing wall. However, if possible, I would go underneath and place a couple of crawl space jacks. Cheap and easy peace of mind.
