Just got a 14 gallon acrylic frag tank and realized it hangs over my stand about and inch to and inch and a half. Should I worry about it bending or anything or will it be fine?

I would bring it as far forward as you can. Although I don’t think it would be a problem but just to be safe.

Ok what I’m going to do is get either a 1/2inch or 1 inch thick piece of wood cut to the same size as my tank and so that the weight in the back will be distributed to the middle. Will that work?

Yes I would use 3/4" ply wood and paint the edge black :).
