Back when I used to work in a pet store we would get people who came in to buy fish as presents for their loved ones for their birthday. The only problem is they would know nothing about the tank, and usually try to pick the biggest or meanest fish that was in budget. I would always try and steer them away from problematic fish fish like domino damsels, large aggressive wrasses, or triggerfish/anything predatory that would obviously not do well unless they knew about the tank it was going in. We would occasionally get people doing returns of the fish because they weren't a good fit for their tank. I was curious to know if anybody on here received a fish, coral, or invert as a present but it ended up doing more harm than good.
