Would a WP-25 be overkill for my tank?

Hey guys, let me start off by saying thanks in advance for any help. I have been hearing good things about these pumps and have decided to give them a try but wanted to make sure I got the right one. I currently have a 46g 22"x22x22 cube but am planning on possibly upgrading in the near future to a 75g-80g cube like tank. I know I could probably use it on that tank but would it be overkill in my current tank? Would I be better off with a WP-10?

Tough question. What are you planning to keep in the tank? What's your substrate going to be like? You probably will at least be running it on it's lowest setting.

I just bought one for my 60gallon long. It is a very powerful pump and I have it on the lowest setting since anything else creates hurricane like conditions. My corals are still adjusting to the increased flow. It's been a week.

It's a good pump and wave maker for the price, but most of the features (reef mode and night mode) I can't use because it's too strong.

I put it on a timer to go off at night so everything can rest.

I have a WP-25 in my 40 gallon bow front, I have to keep it turned down but it works awesome.
2 WP-10s would be a better fit for your tank, I wish the WP-10s were available when I bought my WP-25.

Decided against it and purchased a second Tunze 6055 controllable pump. Just figured this way I know what I'm getting in to and since buying 2 wp-10's was going to run me about the same that I paid for the tunze, I figured it maids sense

Either you are getting your Tunze crazy cheap or you were going to overpay for your MP10s. You can get 2 MP10s with the dual controller for $125.

I may still give them a try later on just to test them for myself

I don't think you would be disappointed. It has as far as I know most of the features of the echo tech MP's. Just has the cord inside the tank.

Just as a point of info, I've had 2 WP25 pumps die on me. The power supply and controller still work fine (tested with a new pump head). The pump head just won't run (tested on a new power supply and controller). They are inexpensive, but 2 failures out of 4 pumps I started 6 or 7 months ago is not a very good record. My personal opinion is that Jebao pumps (I have 3 DC12000 pumps as well) are very inexpensive, but not designed or made as well as I would like. I'd be happy to pay 50% more and get better quality. The problem is, the next best think costs 2 or 3 times more. UGH!

I know that the experience I have had with Tunze has been awesome. My brother still has 2 pumps that I bought about 8 years ago running without issues. It's just because of that experience that I opted to go with a 2nd tunze 6055 instead of a jebao

Reefman I'm not sure if it would be the case with your wps . But I read a post that some thought their wp died but just needed a cleaning and ran like new again. I had the same issue with my sicce pumps.
