My RODI system is awaiting new filters and things, and the distilled water I bought reads 2 TDS.

Wondering what the consensus is on using this for my ATO water.

Thanks!

Use it.

You have no technical reason not to other than it is not zero. If you can’t sleep at night because you used it, keep telling yourself that it is diluted and the use will stop when your system is back. What could possibly be so toxic that even highly diluted it is bad for coral. Besides the notion of using zero TDS is to minimize or eliminate accumulation of elements over time. An occasional lapse means nothing.

Edit: I will go even further. You could have used tap water for a short time. Unless you are drinking mine trailings, there does not seem to be a significant chance for accumulation of anything nasty.

As long as you not constantly using it which would accumulate over time in the tank, I’ll probably use water bottles from the convenient stores rather than fish stores in an emergency.

I would. I don’t swap out my DI with my RODI until it hits 6 and no repercussions.

I can’t imagine requiring water to be 0 TDs. I run it through RO and that’s good enough for me if the resin is exhausted.

I’ve been planning for a long time that the next icp ms that I get from Oceamo for tank water will also test my ro buddy ro water.

The ro/di at 0 ppm tds was, of course, fine, but I’m not convinced I need to use a di. My ro buddy takes 99 ppm tds tap water down to 8 ppm tds before the di. Depending on what that comprises, it may be fine.
