Vrolik's have a similar but different pattern, specifically by the spine....

The difference between melanurus and chrysotaenia that is most notable is the pattern on the tail. In melanurus the tail pattern is interconnected, in chrysotaenia the tail pattern is spotted.

The op's fish is a melanurus that is in midtransition.
