Wrasses for 40 gallon breeder?

Working on my wishlist for my 40 gallon breeder. I have a few fish in mind for this tank. I have zero experience with wrasses other than the 6-line (which I don't want again). I'm interested in some of the flasher species. Can I keep one in a 40 breeder? More than one? I'd like input from the wrasse experts before jumping in.

Speaking of jumping, this tank will have a mesh screen cover. :)

You could probably get away with a couple. Add them at the same time though.

A couple flashers, or maybe even three.

Sometimes three can help distribute minor aggression better, but even then #1 still might only pick on #3 and leave #2 alone; it doesn't always make a difference.

Regardless, if they're about the same size and added at the same time, you should be fine.

Thanks for the replies!

I'm focusing more on swimming room for fish and shelter than the old "fruit stand" for coral in my other tank. It will still be awhile before I add anything but I like to be prepared.

Leopard wrasse! I just added a Macropharyngodon bipartitus to my 40B. She is the only fish in there, lots of room to roam :)

A 40g isn't big enough for Macropharyngodon IMO...

Well depends realy on what his equipment is if hes going to have a refugium of about 20gal or more and its a pod factory I think he has a good chance for a leapord but the leapord would have to already be eated prepared food to have a good chance at being healthy

hemitaeniatus and probably attenuatus. Maybe angulatus.

Hemitaeniatus - beautiful fish! Out of the price range though

tenuatus - Definitely going to get one for the next tank.

Angulatus -Not too sure

What would you pick to go with a McCoskers, a blue flasher or a yellow fin flasher? Both could be males correct?
