My sump wasn't well suited for this skimmer, and I couldn't get it adjusted right for me. I am just sticking with my Tunze 9002.

I had it in water for three days, and it was only turned on for maybe 5 minutes combined time. Perfect working condition, practically brand new. Can show order form date etc, was just last week.

Exactly what I was thinking. You can't even get it close to adjusted in 5 minutes time. I recommend you spend 30 minutes or so. I'd bet you get it running an skimming like a monster.

It can take awhile for it to "Break-in" and the for the neck to build up a coat of film, the impeller to chop correctly. I would down a 10gallon water change take 4-5 (probably 4) gallons of the old water place the skimmer in it at 7-9" with a heat sucks on the inside and let it run I till it breaks in then ounces its skimming "Broke-in" place it in your sump. Oh the 6gallons of water keep and add a little daily to the bucket with the skimmer. This way your using water with organics in it and you'll get Skimmer Poo also. This is how I breaking my skimmers with disrupting my current system setup. IMHO

I started running it again last night, and it's just not easily adjustable.. plus it has the dreaded Bubble Magus "wobble". Which drives me crazy. When people say to have it 7-9" in the water, does that mean the skimmer should be that far OUT of the water, or it should be submerged that much?

From the bottom of the skimmer it should sit 7-9" in.

Sorry according to BM it's 8-10" not 7-9" water depth.

I agree...it's way too soon to give up on that skimmer.
skimmers can takes days/weeks to break-in properly depending on your system.
you may want to give it a quick vinegar bath to remove any oil residue left behind from manufacturing.
I use a 1:1 ratio of fresh water and white vinegar and let it run overnight.

Also, if your system has a light bioload, it may take a while for the skimmer to build up its coating along the interior walls during the break-in period...

don't be so quick to sell it for a loss when you haven't given yourself enough time...

you may want to give it a quick vinegar bath to remove any oil residue left behind from manufacturing.
I use a 1:1 ratio of fresh water and white vinegar and let it run overnight.

Also, I let it run for a few days, it is running correctly now. It still puts too many micro bubbles into my tank, so it's still for sale. My sump just isn't designed for a skimmer. I will have to just run a strong fuge. I really wanted a skimmer, but I don't think it's going to happen.
