The Xenia doesn’t think you cycled the tank. What are the parameters now for ammonia, nitrite & nitrate.
3 weeks my zoa's are loving the tank my Xenia just started shriveling within an hour of being in the tankHow long after beginning cycle before adding Xenia & zoos.
Xenia does not ship well. How did it look when you received it?3 weeks my zoa's are loving the tank my Xenia just started shriveling within an hour of being in the tank
I went and got my Xenia and zoa's from a local pet store it looked healthy and were open when I got home. I used seachems coral dip and followed the instructions on the bottle. Dipped for 15 minutes. I dipped my zoa's in a 50/50 peroxide mix then dipped them in the seachems due to severe pests. Could some one the peroxide from the zoa dip have leached into the seachems dip and caused it?Xenia does not ship well. How did it look when you received it?
More important, describe the dip protocol that you used on Xenia before adding it to display.
It hasn't changed so I removed it. It's a sad day I was super excited. Lessons to be learned thoughI don't think it'll come back from that :crying-face:
I picked it up from my closest store, which is a about an hour and a half from my house. Could the drive have stressed It out? They also put it in a beta container instead of a bagXenia doesn't take dips well, especially after shipping.
No, I don't think the drive had anything to do with it or the packing. I think it was the dip, for xenia if you have to dip it, id do it for half or less the recommended time.I picked it up from my closest store, which is a about an hour and a half from my house. Is there any specific dips you have had luck with? I planned on trimming them and isolating them on the other side of the tank to keep them from spreading. I just love the pulsing movement they have. I'm only wanting soft corals since this is my first tank so I'm avoiding lps and sps.No, I don't think the drive had anything to do with it or the packing. Id say this was a lucky situation for you. Xenia is extremely invasive and hard to get rid of, I wouldn't add it.
you have 0 algae in the tank not even diatoms if you can't grow algae you can't grow coral
Most dips should be fine just don't do them for very long, 5 minutes or less.Is there any specific dips you have had luck with? Thank you very much. I'm assuming peroxide is a no go or it will kill them? From what I've readN
