Xenia wall

I never had a Xenia wall but I did have Xenia Island in a tank for a long time. I’d periodically have to remove a piece and scrub a spot in the main rock structure when it invaded. It was not too much trouble, handled it when I did water changes. The only time I regretted it was when a piece floated around and got sucked into a power head. Xenia in a blender resulted in little colonies popping up everywhere. I’d consider doing it again in a tank big enough to isolate a colony. I like Xenia.

The pretend LFS here in town has a tank that is now all pulsing xenia. It started with just one polyp on the back wall and within a year it had overtaken everything. On the plus side the tank truly is mesmerizing with the motion.

I have a wall of it on the back. It goes right up to the overflow.
Everyone is correct it can take over but somehow I keep it contain to a few spots on the rock and 90% on the back overflow.
When it gets to much and messes with the overflow just take your glass scraper and use that it comes right off !
The smaller fish love it as it provides and place for them to hide and toward the bottom it really pushes out so it provides like a overhang the the fish go and hang out.
This wasn't by design but just happened and I was going to take it off but then I thought it looked really cool and the small fish went it in.
Here is 1 picture I'll get a few more when the lights come on.

I've got a 20 Gallon tall nano that i am thinking about doing this with. I also want a bunch of softies in there as well. Will the Xenia be kept in check by the softies stinging them for space? I really wouldn't mind them over taking the tank as long as the other corals will help keep them at bay
I've heard soft corals can hold their own against other soft corals.
