XR30 G3 sides textured?

Got a set of used xr30 G3's that I bought, they have almost a "soft touch" texture on the sides of them. Anyone know if it's original? or is it just some kind of adhesive residue?
If it's residue, I want to try and clean it up, but if there is some kind of factory finish then I won't.

The top is a glossy black plastic. as is the bottom. I'm assuming the sides match?

The sides are definitely a softer material then the shiny hard plastic tips and bottoms..
I just checked mine which I purchased new

As stated, they are normal. Bad design IMO though...they get gunked up pretty quick....cleaning them seems to make it almost sticky. Make sure you only use plain water if you want to wipe them down.

I might contact ecotech and see what they say, i'm not opposed to disassembling the lights if needed to remove it.
