Hey guys, I just bought a Yasha Goby today and was wondering who's had experience with these fish. He's in a 55 gallon reef tank and I can't seem to find him anywhere and I'm getting a little paranoid that he might be dead or just hiding. Any answers ?

They are shy and will take time to come out. Do you have a pistol or candy cane shrimp? Generally they will find each other and share a burrow. My yasha was shy for 3 years I had him and always stayed close to his burrow. Came out at feeding time every day.

That's a big tank for a little fish :) I am sure it is fine. You may not see it too much, at least until it gets more comfortable. This is typically a fish put into nano tanks for this reason. However again, you may find you will see yours plenty so don't worry yet.

Here's my Yahsa. He's in a 6 gal Fluval Edge paired with a candy cane pistol.

And a rather stylized photo of the same fish:

I agree with the above poster that a 50 is a rather large system for this fish, although there is a 30 gal cube upgrade in the works as I type this. They are a wonderful little fish.

Hmmm. Mine is in a 6 ft, 155 gallon tank. Had him about 18 months. This is where he hangs out with his Randal's pistol shrimp. There is a hole in this live rock that is covered with GSP. Sometimes he comes out of the hole, sometimes under the edge.

Love these two. Goby came first and super shy. Added shrimp a few weeks later. Assumed he was going to die since he was so small and just floated around the tank for a day. He disappeared, then the goby disappeared. 3 days later they emerged from the same place as buddies. Doing great the past couple months.
