My tank just finished the cycle a couple days ago. Was out looking for the first fish and saw that a certain chain store has yellow tail blue tangs for $50. Should I? How dumb of an idea is this? They're beautiful, but what problems apart from hopefully eventual size would I be in for? Is it stupid to consider this to be among the first fish (was also considering a couple cardinals)?

They are often bullies in the tank too. :)

Yeah. Years ago I got one on a whim. THEN looked it up. I had a 90g tank. Thankfully it was small, but I had to rehome it when it grew.

I get the size issue, and that it's have to be moved (it's a 40 breeder), but are there issues like prone to disease, etc?

Mine is not a bully but a clown. He will swim to the surface, gulp some air and swim down releasing air bubbles and all the other fish eat the bubbles thinking it’s food. He will do that repeatedly like he knows he’s fcking with them. It’s comical.
