Back on the reef pi train. I would like to be fully up and running by the end of the month.

had a few set backs and am starting fresh.

I did have my relays working but they aren’t anymore. Getting a voltage drop from 12 to 5v from my booster whenever I trigger an outlet on, the relay on the switch never clicks either.

Issue with the power supply? Issue with the voltage booster?

Everything seems fine voltage wise until I trigger the outlet to on.

thoughts?

here is the set up.

5v power supply to 12v booster to pi hat to db9.

Does the green light on the power supply dim or turn off when the outlet is triggered on?

No. stays fully lit. I’ve ordered a new power supply and voltage booster. Going to try and isolate my power problem.

stupid question. I’m rewiring my ATO. For a mechanical float switch, am I just hooking it up to positive and negative? Not sure which pins on the hat need to be connect now.

Good news. We are back in business. Not sure what the issue was but seems to be back up and running. Adding connectors and modules back one by one to make sure everything stays working as it should.

Any help on the ATO

mechanical float switch.

Do I wire one side to GPIO and the other ground?

RPI defaults to use internal pull down resistors on the GPIO. You'll need to connect the float to 3.3v (or 5v works if you are using something with input protection). Here's how to connect a float on a goby board.
