Do we turn off the protein skimmer while we are dosing these aminos etc. into the tank? if so for how long?

I have a small skimmer so i don't worry. But if you have a good skimmer i would turn it off for 30 minutes.

Yes, some could overgrow other species.
But that doesn't happen too often.

Maybe I should buy one of those and place it on the back of my aquarium. I don't seem to have any luck growing zoas. Any hints would be greatly appreciated.

If GSP is growing next to zoanthids, will it outgrow and beat out zoas? or can zoas sufficiently hold them back?
