One of my new zoa frags is starting to close up almost entirely.

There seems like some algae may be growing on it. I also see some little strings waiving around that might be having an impact as well.

The weird thing is, I have both older and newer zoa frags right nearby And all of them look great. Fully open and growing new heads. For whatever reason, this one is struggling. And it came in to my tank looking phenomenal.

Any ideas? I've seen peroxide dip suggestions, but I'm not sure if that will work for whatever those string filaments are.

Not sure because of the quality, but I might see some possible eggs of zoa-eating nudibranches on the stem of the polyps on the left of your picture. If you can just look them up on google (especially the eggs) to confirm :) Could be something else white, but hard to see.

Edit: Also search for zoa-pox if you have some white spots, but if they don’t look like nudibranch eggs

Thanks for the info.

I doubt it's nudibranches. I quarantine every frag and dip multiple times across multiple weeks. Any frag that has any hint of being unhealthy doesn't make it into my display tank.

When I say "new", I've had it Maybe 3 months. 1.5 months in QT, 1.5 months in my DT so far.

Would GHA growing on / near it be a cause possibly? I do have some GHA in other parts of the tank but not really near the zoa garden.
