Does V C up Alk levels? My Alk skyrocketed to 14. How can I buffer to make sure it doesn't keep going up?
Stop dosing alk and vitamin C, and do 10% water changes one a week until it comes back to normal. Watch Mg and Ca also.

I don't like play with the chemistry of my tank because it's very stable.
That's another reason why I dosed very little vitamin C.

It might take some time to adjust the alk, but not a big deal...
Good luck!

No, the buffer in the version of vitamin C you are using adds alkalinity. If you are dosing anything for alkalinity, stop. You can also reduce your vitamin c dosing.

Coming back here just to say that vitamin C will make a difference in growing zoas!
I'm actually having problems because they are taking over now and I will probably have to stop dosing at some point. LOL!
Cheers!

Brightwell's.
Only 5 drops 3 times a week!!
I'll stop dosing!
The polyps are growing way too much, reproducing and taking over the glasses.
Before the zoas were growing already too fast and I had to frag to give to friends.
Now it's out of hand!!
Vitamin C is too much for my system with the T5s! LOL!!

Go slow, girl. You don't want to dose too much. I was using only 5 drops per day on my 75gal. Not kidding...
But my system was already doing great for the past 8 years...
Have fun!

I remain skeptical that 5 drops in your 75 gal had any effect at all. That bottle is 1500mg/oz of Vitamin C. One drop is 0.002 oz (rounding up). In other words, you are adding 15 mg of Vitamin C to your 75g, which results in a concentration of 0.05 ppm. All evidence I've come across and documented in other threads show massively larger concentrations required for any effect, with 50 ppm being the most commonly cited concentration. That's 1000x higher than what you are dosing.

To add to that, Vitamin C is only viable in the tank for 8-9 hours before it is no longer providing any effect. Dosing once per week does not maintain any consistent concentration available for use by corals. Perhaps there is something else in the bottle which is providing some benefit, like lithium in Tech-M against bryopsis.

Well, I don't really care about all that. Whatever people say is what they say...
I stopped for a while and when I started again the polyps started going really, really crazy!!
No matter what you say (and others), with all the respect, I'm having a hard time cause I've noticed today that the polyps are actually growing out of the water!!! Pretty soon my tank will look ugly with the giant polyps and everything covered with them!!
I'm just reporting what's going on. There is absolutely nothing else changed in any way on that system for years.
Perhaps the combo with those powerful T5s is the key? Haha!! Just kidding!
My tank doesn't need vitamin C. That's for sure! LOL!

Cheers.

Just thought I would give a quick update to show how my zoa's have made a wonderful come back. I also stopped dosing the vitiman C because the zoa's where taking over to much. Funny now that I look back at how they looked when I started this thread..

Oh no, you're not supposed to dip in vitamin C.
You add drops to the water.
Vitamin C isn't a dipping solution.
