Hi everyone, I’m a new member, and this is my 45-gallon saltwater aquarium. I’m currently using a Zoox Reef Ultra light (100W). In the past, I’ve used lights from brands such as Hydra and Radion, as well as some less expensive options.

In my opinion, the Zoox light offers pretty good color reproduction for the price. However, after three months, I’ve noticed that my corals’ colors have started to fade, especially the yellow colors. I’m not sure how to properly adjust the light settings or whether the light output might be a little too weak.

I’ve checked all of the aquarium’s parameters, and everything appears to be fine. Does anyone have any advice for me?

Hi and Welcome to R2R.

Awesome tank.

Yellow is always the 1st color to fade and usually to a shade of green. Typically that color change is due to water chem and nutrients.

Without specific Par numbers you won't know if the intensity settings are too high or too low.

What % are you running the fixture out?
How far away is the fixture?
How deep is the tank?

Again awesome tank and scape. The corals look otherwise very healthy.

Thank you for your comment. Honestly, buying a PAR meter in my country is quite expensive. I can only share that I'm running the white channel at 5% and the blue channel at 85%. Since this light only has two channels (blue and white), colors like red, violet, and green are built into these two main channels. The light is mounted 30 cm above the water surface, and the tank depth is 50 cm. I've noticed that my yellow hammers are doing fine, but it's the yellow torches that are starting to fade.
