Is it ok to run a 10 gal with no sock or protein skimmer? Will put carbon and GFO in bags

IMO in many cases no socks or protein skimmer will be fine on a 10g nano if you are consistent with weekly water changes.

I mean I guess you could, but a filter sponge/sock is just so useful. My sponge + cleaning my sponge is a huge part of my nutrient export on my nano.

Do you have anything to act as mechanical filtration? That’s the only thing I’d be concerned about. No skimmer is fine.
